We set out this year with a mission, to support single parents in need through proceeds of the Shades By Shan Cosmetics line. We have received overwhelming support through your purchases & were amazed with the number of nominations that have come in. Our committee read each and every nomination, with the difficult task of narrowing it down to 2 rock star single parents. This past weekend, we were able to invite them back stage at the Poptopia concert to meet Bebe Rexha, present them with their awards & thanks to our beauty retailer, Planet Beauty, they each received massive swag bags!

Meet Sophia Reyes:
Nominated by her best friend: Vanessa Lopez
Sophia moved back to San Jose to take care of her young sisters when her mother passed away and is also mother to 9-year-old Caleb who has been diagnosed with autism. She works full time, takes care of her sisters, cooks, cleans and manages to do therapy with her son on a daily basis. Every day Sophia dedicates time to her family and makes sure they are all well cared for while also dealing with her own health issues. She is a superhero in plain clothes. Congratulations Sophia!
Meet Caudia Colmenero:

Mother to 4 children, one college student at UC San Diego, kids are straight A students. She works for the Oakland School District. She was forced to move since her landlord up the rent by 3 times what she was paying, moving back in with her parents. She has taken all the house responsibilities upon herself and still tries to find quality time with her loved ones. She is having to take out loans and has put her savings into her sons college tuition, she has raised her kids with the “College, Duh!” mentality. Claudia has happily raised her kids without any help from their father and is a warrior who doesn’t back down from all the blows life has given her. Congratulations Claudia!
